Photographer Andreas Gursky took this photo, Rhine II, of what seems to be a stream and a sidewalk lined by grass. That is the full description of this photo. Most photographers could re-shoot this photo and come up with little to no differances and not be able to sell it for anywhere in the same vicinity as Gursky has. How much did this dreadfully boring photo go for? Rhine II sold for 2.7 million British pounds or just over 4.8 million U.S. dollars. If you could make that much money from photographing a stream or pond, who in their right mind would not become a photographer. A better question is, who in their right mind would pay close to five million dollars for a photo this simple. That is truly the million dollar question.http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/art/8884829/Why-is-Andreas-Gurskys-Rhine-II-the-most-expensive-photograph.html
